FDA Transparency Task Force Releases 21 Proposals

On May 19 the Transparency Task Force of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a report containing 21 draft proposals about expanding the disclosure of information by FDA while maintaining confidentiality for trade secrets and individually identifiable patient information. The FDA is accepting public comment regarding the content of the proposals, as well as on which draft proposals should be given priority, on its website until July 20. The FDA notes that not all its proposals will necessarily be implemented because some may require changes in law or regulation and some may require substantial amounts of resources.
Online Medicare Participation Survey Through June 30

A new online Medicare participation survey is being conducted by the Alliance of Specialty Medicine through June 30. The alliance includes the AANS and a number of other medical specialty societies. The survey consists of six questions with multiple choice answers, and completion time is estimated at two minutes. The alliance plans to utilize information from the survey in media and outreach efforts this summer.
