Young People at Higher Risk for Stroke Than in Previous Years, Study Finds
A study conducted at the Loyola University Medical Center has found that 15 percent of the most common strokes happen in teens and young adults. According to reports, more young people are at risk for ischemic stroke, which occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked. This type of stroke is often brought on high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and smoking. Study authors suggest that there should be more emphasis on educating young people about stroke.
