Journal Highlights Research Developments in Brain Cancer, Stereotactic Biopsy, Off-Label Drug Use

The June issue of Neurosurgery features the results of three notable studies, including one that has found that learning facilitated by artificial neural networks (ANNs) may improve the ability to predict the survival rates of those with advanced brain cancer. The issue also includes a review of evidence indicating a 96 percent success rate for using stereotactic biopsy in obtaining samples of uncommon brain stem cancers. Researchers have also assessed off-label uses of drugs, proposing that medical societies would set the parameters for which this type of use occured. Click here to read about these three studies.
