One of Three Stroke Sufferers Experience Post-Stroke Depression

According to a review artcle from Loyola University Medical Center, about one out of three stroke sufferers experience depression after the stroke. Depression, in turn, is said to increase stroke risk. When given as a preventative measure, antidepressants like Lexapro, Zoloft and Prozac  are said to be effective.  Mental disorders after a stroke are common, but depression is the most common.
