Discovery of Cellular Mechanism for Growth of Meningioma Could Lead to New Treatments

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine say they have discovered one of the most important cellular mechanisms driving the growth and progression of meningioma — the most common form of brain and spinal cord tumor. They say the discovery could lead the way to finding better drugs to attack the crippling tumors. Study results appear in the journal Molecular Cancer Research.

“We are one step closer to identifying genes that can be targeted for treatment,” says study leader Gilson S. Baia, PhD, a faculty research associate in the Department of Neurosurgery at the school. For more information, click here to read the full release.
