For Elderly, No Link Between Alzheimer’s, Anesthesia
New research from the Mayo Clinic has found elderly patients who receive anesthesia are no more likely than their peers to develop dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. This news is reassuring after a number of studies have shown that animal models exposed to anesthesia developed brain lesions similar to those seen in Alzheimer’s disease.
