Promise for MS, Cerebral Palsy: Skin Cells Morphed into Healthy Brain Cells
As reported by Nature Biotechnonlogy, researchers at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine have discovered a method to convert skin cells to the type of cells destroyed in patients with disorders like multiple sclerosis (MS) and cerebral palsy (CP).In those who suffer from MS, CP and rare disorders known as leukodystrohies, myelinating cells and destroyed and irreplaceable. These findings now facilitate the “on demand” creation of myelinating cells, which protect neurons and allows the delivery of brain impulses to the rest of the body.
