Researchers Explore Sudden Epilepsy Deaths
Dravet syndrome (DS) is a treatment-resistant form of epilepsy from which patients have a significantly increased risk of dying from sudden unexplained death in epilepsy (SUDEP). A team at the University of Washington has explored SUDEP in a mouse study of DS using video, electroencephalography and electrocardiography which revealed a slowing of the heartbeat preceding SUDEP in mice.
